Job summary

YMCA of Montclair is seeking a Regular Part-Time SACC Assistant Site Director to plan, supervise, and implement a developmentally appropriate childcare program at one site. The role emphasizes health and safety of all children and effective supervision of extended care activities and events.

The position requires supervisory experience with children and relevant education credentials, plus a commitment to the YMCA’s core values of Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility.

Qualifications

• BA in Education, Child Development, Physical Education, Recreation or related field and two years direct experience with children under age 13, including at least one year in a supervisory capacity OR
• School Age Child Care credential and three years direct experience with children under age 13, including at least one year in a supervisory capacity OR
• Two years of college with 18 credits in child development, elementary education, physical education, recreation or related field and three years direct experience with children under age 13, including at least one year in a supervisory capacity.

Responsibilities

• Plan, implement and supervise a developmentally appropriate, fun, and enriching activity curriculum for camp group throughout the summer.
• Maintain positive relationships with parents and demonstrate positive communication skills that will foster a healthy and comfortable atmosphere.
• Promote and supervise the health, emotional, social, intellectual and physical development of each child.
• Attend required Abuse Risk Management training and adhere to procedures related to managing high-risk activities and supervising members and participants.
• Follow employee and volunteer screening requirements and use screening instruments to screen for abuse risk.
