Job summary

Defendify, a Portland, ME-based cybersecurity and SaaS company, is seeking a Vice President of Finance to own the finance and accounting function. You will lead day-to-day operations, the monthly close, forecasting, and strategic planning, while partnering with leadership on vendor negotiations and fundraising.

You will drive SaaS metrics, manage cash/runway, and support equity and debt financing. The role emphasizes hands-on controllership with scalability and board-ready reporting.

Qualifications

• Experience leading finance in a growth-stage B2B SaaS or cybersecurity company.
• Hands-on controllership experience: GL, close, revenue recognition, reconciliations, internal controls.
• Proven ability to manage budgeting, forecasting, cash/runway planning, and SaaS metrics.

Responsibilities

• Oversee complete finance and accounting operations including AR, AP, invoicing, payroll coordination, cash management, and accounting controls.
• Own controllership: GL, COA, journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, revenue recognition, monthly close.
• Produce GAAP financial statements and management reporting with policy and control documentation.
• Lead budgets, forecasts, cash flow, variance analysis, and KPI dashboards for leadership.
