Backstory is hiring a VP/SVP of Finance to lead FP&A, accounting, and cash for an enterprise SaaS business. Reporting to the CEO, you’ll guide a lean finance team, shape financial strategy, and support board and investor reporting. The role is hands-on, focusing on growth milestones and disciplined financial management.

You’ll be responsible for budgeting, forecasting, monthly close, and ensuring audit readiness as the company scales with venture backing.

Qualifications

• Extensive leadership in finance, including FP&A and accounting.
• Strong understanding of SaaS metrics and how they drive financial performance.
• Hands-on ability to model, forecast, and analyze for decision making.

Responsibilities

• Own annual budget, rolling forecasts, and headcount/opex planning tied to business operations.
• Deliver monthly/quarterly plan-to-actuals and partner with leaders to explain drivers.
• Collaborate with Sales, Customer, Marketing, and Product on investment trade-offs as growth evolves.
• Prepare board and investor materials and guide the company’s financial trajectory.
