Job summary

Defendify, a Portland, Maine based growth company, seeks a Vice President of Finance to own finance and accounting functions. You will lead controllership, close processes, budgeting, forecasting, and the development of SaaS metrics while partnering with leadership on strategic decisions.

You will prepare board materials, manage investor relations and financing activities, and build scalable financial systems, controls, and processes to support Defendify's next phase of growth.

Qualifications

• Proven finance leadership in a growth-stage B2B SaaS, cybersecurity, or recurring revenue tech company.
• Hands-on controllership experience with GAAP financial statements and revenue recognition.
• Strong budgeting, forecasting, cash planning, and SaaS metrics expertise.
• Experience presenting to executives and boards and coordinating financing activities.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day finance and accounting operations including GL, close, reconciliations, AR/AP, payroll coordination, and cash management.
• Lead controllership, revenue recognition, deferred revenue, and internal controls to ensure timely, accurate reporting.
• Own budgets, forecasts, cash runway planning, variance analysis, and scenario modeling with KPI-driven cadence.
• Develop and report SaaS and operating metrics (ARR, MRR, churn, CAC, payback) to support decisions.
• Prepare materials for leadership and the Board; support vendor negotiations and financing diligence.
