Job summary

Rio Grande Pacific Transit Group is seeking a RWIC/Flagger to establish and maintain safe working limits on or near railroad rights-of-way in Austin, TX. You will coordinate with dispatchers, train crews, and field personnel, conduct briefings, and ensure protection requirements are followed.

The position requires a valid driver’s license, railroad experience, and the ability to obtain RWIC qualifications. Strong communication and safety awareness are essential in this outdoor, variable-weather

Qualifications

• Valid driver’s license.
• Railroad MOW or flagging experience preferred.
• Must obtain RWIC and operating rules qualifications.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and walk on uneven terrain.

Responsibilities

• Establish and maintain safe working limits for roadway work groups.
• Conduct job briefings and communicate protection requirements to personnel.
• Coordinate with dispatchers, train crews, and field personnel regarding track authority and movements.
• Monitor approaching trains and ensure personnel and equipment are clear before movements.
• Communicate changes in conditions or protection to affected personnel.
• Install and remove flags, signs, derails, or other protection devices as needed.
• Maintain records related to track protection and daily activities.
• Identify unsafe conditions and stop work when necessary.
• Follow roadway worker protection requirements and company safety procedures.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
• Report concerns that cannot be resolved onsite needing additional assistance.
