Job summary

Valley Humane Society in Pleasanton, CA, seeks a Registered Veterinary Technician to join the Phil Scholtz Veterinary Surgery Center. You will lead high-volume surgical days, administer anesthesia, and assist veterinarians across a range of medical and dental procedures.

Qualifications

• Active California RVT license is required.
• 1–2+ years of experience in veterinary medicine, shelter work or dentistry preferred.
• Proficient with anesthesia monitoring, venipuncture, IV catheter placement, dental radiography, and client communication.

Responsibilities

• Anesthesia, patient management across surgical cases and post-operative recovery.
• Dental prophylaxis, scaling, polishing, dental charting, nerve blocks, and intraoral radiography under supervision.
• Support veterinarians in high-volume spay/neuter and other surgeries, including patient prep and sterile field maintenance.
• Maintain sterile surgical suites, sterilize instruments, autoclaves, and monitoring equipment.
• Keep precise medical records and controlled substance logs in compliance with CVMB and DEA guidelines.
• Assist with client intake and discharge instructions, and provide post-op care education.
