Job summary

Valley Humane Society in Pleasanton, CA seeks a Registered Veterinary Technician to join the Surgery Center team. You’ll lead high-volume surgery days, assist veterinarians, administer anesthesia, and monitor recovering patients.

The role emphasizes surgical nursing, dentistry, patient care, and meticulous record-keeping. Candidates should have CA RVT licensure and 1–2+ years in veterinary medicine, with strong communication and teamwork in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Current, active California RVT license.
• 1–2+ years of veterinary medicine experience, preferably high-volume spay/neuter or shelter medicine.
• Proficient in anesthesia monitoring, venipuncture, IV placement, dental radiography, and client communication.
• Strong communication, empathy, and teamwork in fast-paced environments.
• Proficient with veterinary practice management software (e.g., ClinicHQ).

Responsibilities

• Lead high-volume surgery days and assist veterinarians with medical and surgical procedures.
• Administer and monitor anesthesia; manage induction, monitoring, and recovery.
• Perform dentistry including prophylaxis, scaling, polishing, charting, and intraoral radiography.
• Maintain sterile field and instrument care; support surgical suites and equipment.
• Provide wellness and community care support; assist vaccine and clinic activities.
• Maintain precise medical records and compliant logs per CVMB/DEA guidelines.
