Job summary

fab2 is an early-stage hardware startup building software and fab equipment to accelerate chip design and fabrication. The Studio platform unites schematic capture, layout, and simulation in one browser-based tool, with Rust across the stack and WebAssembly in the browser.

The internship offers hands-on, beginner-friendly learning while tackling complex problems in tools for silicon design; offices in Austin, TX (also SF). Portfolios on GitHub are welcomed for consideration.

Qualifications

• Strong Rust, or serious C++/systems experience with curiosity to go deep in Rust.
• Solid systems fundamentals: memory, performance, concurrency.
• A track record of non-trivial software you built from scratch and can walk us through end to end.

Responsibilities

• Fullstack, Rust end-to-end, owning major features from design through shipping.
• Develop deeply interactive, low-latency editing tools for wiring and layout.
• Create a diffable, real-time collaborative document model with a robust sync engine.
• Build a GPU canvas rendering millions of polygons with fast, smooth performance.
• Implement simulation with millisecond responsiveness and scalable backend integration.
• Explore plugin systems, sandboxed WebAssembly components, and a scripting API.
