Job summary

Google Cloud is seeking a Software Engineer to drive Rust acceleration in production. This mid-level role focuses on C++/Rust interoperability, library development, and AI tooling within the Infrastructure team.

You will partner with owning teams to enable ownership and guide the migration path on critical Rust components. The role emphasizes system design for low-level software and requires 5 years of software development experience, with preferred expertise in Rust and C/C++.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 5 years of experience in software development.
• Experience in computer science, data structures, algorithms, and software design.

Responsibilities

• Work on Rust Acceleration in Production - Infrastructure Team alongside the broader Core Rust team (C++/Rust interop, platform, library development experience, and AI tooling).
• Align with owning parties, ensure participation in rewrite design and implementation, and prepare for ownership.
• Design the optimal end state of a Rust implementation of the dependency for low-level systems software.
• Design and execute the migration path based on customers' needs and safe rollout constraints.
