Google Cloud’s software engineers seek a Senior Software Engineer to advance Rust acceleration in production. You will collaborate with the Infrastructure Team on C++/Rust interop, platform and library migrations, and partner with owning teams to ensure ownership and design fidelity.

The role focuses on building low-level systems software, evaluating dependencies, and delivering reliable migrations with customer-focused outcomes across AI tooling and infrastructure platforms.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 5 years of experience in software development.
• Knowledge of CS, data structures, algorithms, and software design.
• Experience programming in C or C++.
• Experience with Rust preferred.

Responsibilities

• Work on Rust acceleration in production with the Infrastructure Team, focusing on C++/Rust interop and library migrations.
• Coordinate with owning parties to ensure participation in rewrite design and full ownership.
• Design a Rust-based dependency implementation aligned with customer needs and Rust ecosystem constraints.
• Plan and execute a safe migration path with the desired level of code ownership and rollout constraints.
