Job summary

Indian Prairie Community Unit School District is seeking a Russian-speaking Bilingual Teaching Assistant (Part-Time) at Neuqua Valley High School. The role requires instructing identified students in a bilingual classroom, with a 0.8 FTE workload and no, or minimal, travel between schools.

The position supports English and a designated second language instruction, collaborates with staff, and communicates progress with families as part of a district bilingual program.

Responsibilities

• Schedule and plan instruction using district/state curricula in self-contained and small-group settings.
• Provide instruction in English or a designated second language as appropriate.
• Model language and vocabulary clearly in both English and second language.
• Screen and determine student eligibility for the program; review results.
• Set high expectations and hold students accountable for work.
• Create and conduct assessments to evaluate progress.
• Monitor progress, maintain records, and develop intervention strategies for growth.
• Communicate progress with parents in writing and verbally; encourage involvement.
• Collaborate with teachers to plan, implement, and assess lessons and progress.
• Consult staff on bilingual education issues; provide in-service as needed.
• Participate on building/district teams; liaise with staff as needed.
• Enforce school policies and objectives with students and parents.
• Collaborate to plan and enhance curriculum and school objectives.
• Participate in professional development and school improvement activities.
• Maintain current records required by state/federal requirements.
• Establish a safe learning environment and model appropriate behavior.
• Participate in events outside regular work day (orientation/open houses).
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
