Job summary

CSS Farms is seeking a Potato Storage Manager (Russet Specialist) to lead grading, storage filling, and the critical wound healing and curing phases for Russet potatoes after harvest. You will manage storage facilities, monitor climate data, and work with farm teams to maximize quality and minimize shrink.

The role requires hands-on supervision of storage systems, comfort with ventilation and cooling equipment, and attention to tuber health.

Qualifications

  • Deep understanding of Russet potato physiology, dormancy, and storage handling.
  • Ability to monitor and adjust storage climate data and controls.
  • Strong communication skills to train and coordinate farm teams.

Responsibilities

  • Lead potato grading and storage filling during harvest season.
  • Oversee seed handling and seed cutting during planting season.
  • Monitor wound healing and curing for Russet potatoes post-harvest.
  • Maintain storage facilities to maximize quality and minimize shrink.
  • Manage ventilation, humidicells, and refrigeration systems.
  • Analyze temperature, humidity, and airflow data to optimize storage performance.
  • Coordinate sprout suppression and long-term holding viability.
  • Lead storage maintenance and routine cleaning programs.
