Job summary

West River Transit seeks a Transit Executive Director to guide a 7-county rural transit program from the Bismarck area. You will provide strategic leadership, oversee operations, and ensure reliable access to employment, healthcare, education, and community services.

The role requires 5–7 years in transit, strong leadership, budgeting, and stakeholder engagement, with in‑person duties across the region.

Responsibilities

• Strategic leadership: set transit goals aligned with policies across7 counties.
• Program management: oversee planning, operation, and maintenance of transit services.
• Community engagement: build relationships with residents and agencies.
• Budget and operations: manage contracts, capital projects, procurement, and adherence to regulations.
• Safety and compliance: ensure ADA, DOT/FTA, and local regulations are followed.
• Coordination: partner with neighboring municipalities to optimize coverage.
• Staff leadership: hire, train, and mentor transit staff.
