Job summary

The Southwestern Wisconsin Regional Planning Commission is seeking an experienced Associate Planner to lead community planning projects across rural southwestern Wisconsin. You will work with local officials, residents and partner organizations to address demographic shifts, climate change and financial solvency, building resilient plans grounded in local culture.

The role emphasizes project management, community engagement, and collaboration across disciplines, with a hybrid Platteville office

Qualifications

• Experience with strategic planning, community engagement, and visioning.
• Knowledge of planning laws and practices in Wisconsin (comprehensive plans and zoning).
• Familiarity with rural community issues: demographics, finance, climate risks.

Responsibilities

• Community Planning and project management – 50%.
• Research, analysis, and technical support – 20%.
• Community engagement and relationship development – 15%.
• Organizational collaboration and professional development - 5%.
• Other duties as assigned – 10%.
