Job summary

Harney District Hospital in Burns, Oregon seeks a Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) to join our rural laboratory team. The MLS will serve as a generalist across multiple areas of laboratory medicine, performing a variety of testing that supports patient diagnosis and treatment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology, MLS or related field required.
• Current MLS/MT certification through ASCP or AMT, or CLIA-qualified equivalent.
• Recent grads applying for ASCP/AMT certification may be considered if certification obtained within required timeframe.
• Documentation of highest academic achievement (diploma or transcript) required at hire.

Responsibilities

• Generalist across multiple areas of laboratory medicine.
• Perform high-complexity testing and quality control.
• Assist with blood bank services and transfusion testing as needed.
• Troubleshoot analyzers and instrument issues.
• Operate automated instrumentation and manual methods.
• Perform phlebotomy when required.
• Collaborate with team to ensure accurate, timely results and patient safety.
