Job summary

KA Recruiting Inc. represents a rural Eastern Oregon hospital seeking a Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) / Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) on a permanent, full-time basis. The role offers a day shift with rotating 4x10-hour days and shared after-hours call.

The MLS/MLT will work across chemistry, hematology, blood bank, and phlebotomy, providing high-quality laboratory testing and rapid results in a close-knit team serving a rural community one hour northeast of Pendleton.

Qualifications

• Degree or formal education in Medical Laboratory Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or a related field.
• Strong generalist laboratory skills across chemistry, hematology, blood bank, and phlebotomy.
• Experience in a hospital laboratory environment preferred.
• Ability to work independently in a small hospital setting.
• Willingness to participate in after-hours call rotation.
• Resident within 30 minutes of the hospital.

Responsibilities

• Performs clinical lab testing across chemistry, hematology, and blood bank.
• Performs phlebotomy with proper patient identification and specimen handling.
• Evaluates test results for accuracy and flags abnormal values.
• Operates and maintains laboratory analyzers and equipment.
• Communicates critical results to clinicians.
• Participates in after-hours call rotation.
• Supports quality assurance and safety compliance.
• Collaborates with physicians, nurses, and lab staff.
