Job summary

Rural Staffing Services® is partnering with Sublette County Health in Pinedale, Wyoming to identify an experienced Interim Laboratory Manager / Director who can stabilize operations in a small rural hospital laboratory and lay groundwork for long-term success.

This interim, hands-on leadership role requires assessing workflows, ensuring CLIA compliance, mentoring staff, and building sustainable systems while covering bench work and varying shifts as needed.

Qualifications

• Previous laboratory leadership in a CAH, rural, or small community hospital.
• Strong CLIA regulatory knowledge and alignment with surveys.
• Hands-on generalist bench experience in hospital labs.
• Experience leading teams through change and staffing challenges.
• Education meets CLIA personnel qualification requirements.
• ASCP certification or equivalent credentials preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assess operations, staffing, workflows, equipment and processes.
• Stabilize daily lab operations and coverage needs.
• Strengthen CLIA compliance, quality systems, and documentation.
• Prepare the lab for regulatory surveys and inspections.
• Identify gaps and optimize staffing models and travelers.
• Mentor staff and develop future leaders within the department.
• Oversee supply, equipment, send-out testing, and cost-savings opportunities.
• Provide bench coverage and patient draws as needed; support off hours.
