Job summary

Lindsay Corporation is seeking a General Assembly Technician to perform repetitive bench or line assembly of metal products in a manufacturing setting.

You will operate presses, assemble components by hand, and read schematics to determine parts and procedures. The role requires flexibility for overtime and weekend shifts to meet customer needs.

Qualifications

  • Must be able to read a tape measure and blueprints.
  • Must have knowledge of caliper gauges and computers.
  • Must be familiar with hand tools – drills, screwdrivers, etc.
  • Previous wiring experience is a plus.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be able to communicate in English.

Responsibilities

  • Operates arbor presses or riveting machine to perform fastening operations on the line.
  • Assemble bundles, wheel assemblies, and other materials by hand.
  • Remove metal with hand files and scrapers to ensure close fits.
  • Read schematics and blueprints to determine materials and instructions.
  • Operate drill presses, punch presses or riveting machines to assist assembly.
  • Operate hand truck or forklift to move materials for shipments.

Position Summary:

A successful General Assembly Technician will perform repetitive bench or line assembly operations to mass-produce metal products such as angle bundling, crating, motors, wheel assemblies or hydraulic cylinders partially or completely.

Essential Functions:
  • Operates arbor presses or riveting machine to perform force fitting or fastening operations on the line.
  • Assemble various types of bundles, wheel assemblies, package smaller kits, and other assorted materials by hand.
  • Removes small quantities of metal with hand files and scrapers to produce close fit between parts.
  • Read and interpret schematic drawings, diagrams, blueprints, specifications, work orders, and reports to determine materials requirements and assembly instructions after a 2 month period.
  • Operates drill presses, punch presses or riveting machines to assist in assembly operation.
  • Operates hand truck or forklift to move, convey, or hoist material for shipments from platform in the most effective and safe manner.
  • Ability to operate most of the machines, tools and other equipment in department.
  • Must be able to work overtime and weekends as required by the Team Leader and to meet our customer needs.
  • Must follow all safety rules and regulations, including the reporting of any hazards, violations, or injuries to your Team Leader no matter how minor.
