Job description

RS Avionics/Electrical Technician IV in GAC St. Louis

Unique Skills:

Aircraft avionics experience required; Gulfstream experience preferred.

All shifts available.

The compensation range for this role is $35.70 - $41.77 per hour. Final compensation will be determined based on qualifications, knowledge, skills, abilities, education, experience, and location.

Education and Experience Requirements: High School Diploma or GED required. Six (6) years of avionics/electrical experience or two (2) years of accredited aviation electronics schooling plus four (4) years of related experience. A & P license, FCC license, or NCATT certification preferred.

Position Purpose: Provides leadership, technical expertise, and guidance in testing and repairing avionics/electronic aircraft systems to ensure defect-free aircraft. Demonstrates technical leadership by implementing process improvements to reduce costs, meet schedules, and uphold safety and quality standards.

Job Description: Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Demonstrate superior skills in avionics and aircraft systems testing and troubleshooting. Provide training to support cross-training and ensure a safety-conscious, quality workforce.
  2. Teach installation and functional testing of electrical/avionics components according to specifications, drawings, and manuals.
  3. Ensure quality and efficiency of installations, troubleshoot, and teach troubleshooting techniques for timely repairs.
  4. Repair or replace defective components and wiring, demonstrating proper techniques such as splicing, soldering, and pinning.
  5. Oversee compliance with engineering changes and modifications.
  6. Set up and operate test equipment; conduct functional and operational tests.
  7. Maintain accurate logs and documentation of work performed.
  8. Inspect work of others to reduce rework and inspection time.
  9. Maintain and test electronic systems and components.
  10. Enforce safety programs and regulations, including FOD, tool control, and 5-S.
  11. Adapt to schedule changes and coordinate with other disciplines.

Additional Functions:

  1. Teach installation and testing of electrical/avionics systems.
  2. Conduct self-inspections for avionics testing functions.
  3. Support aircraft certification and final testing, including flight tests if required.

Other Requirements:

  • Proficiency in troubleshooting other aircraft systems such as hydraulics, landing gear, flight controls, environmental controls, or structural repairs preferred.
  • APU and engine run qualifications preferred.
  • Ability to interpret blueprints and schematics.
  • Fluent in English (reading, writing, speaking).
