UAB St. Vincent's in Birmingham is seeking a Respiratory Therapist for PRN night shifts in the Respiratory Department. The role involves evaluating and caring for patients with respiratory insufficiencies, developing and implementing care plans, and monitoring patient status and equipment.

Training and credentials are required, with ACLS/NRP/PALS preferred. You will work with a team dedicated to compassionate, high-quality care, and you may participate in education for patients and families.

Formación

• Graduate from an accredited School of Respiratory Therapy.
• BLS Provider within 1 Month of hire date.
• NBRC registered Respiratory Therapist credentialed.
• Alabama Board of Respiratory Therapy credentialed.
• ALS/ACLS preferred. NRP/PALS preferred.

Responsabilidades

• Provide evaluation of and care for patients with respiratory insufficiencies.
• Assess patient for appropriate type and frequency of treatment and develop a plan of care based on diagnosis.
• Implement and monitor patient care plan and equipment; monitor, record and communicate patient condition.
• Evaluate respiratory practice, medication administration, and treatment outcomes.
• Educate patients and families about health conditions and available programs.
• Respond to emergency resuscitation team codes.

What You Will Do

• Provide evaluation of and care for patients with respiratory insufficiencies.


• Assess patient for appropriate type and frequency of treatment and develop a plan of care based on diagnosis.


• Implement and monitor patient care plan and equipment. Monitor, record and communicate patient condition. Perform advanced respiratory care modalities.


• Evaluate respiratory practice, administration of medications, and treatment based on patient outcome.


• Educate the patient and family about the health condition and provides information about community support groups and other available programs.


• Respond to emergency resuscitation team code.

What You Will Need

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.


• Respiratory Therapist specializing in Registered credentialed from the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.


• Respiratory Therapist credentialed from the Alabama Board of Respiratory Therapy obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.


• Advanced Life Support preferred. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.


• Certification specializing in Neonatal Resuscitation credentialed from the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) preferred.


• Pediatric Advanced Life Support preferred. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.

Minimum Requirements:

• Graduate from an accredited School of Respiratory Therapy.
