Job summary

UAB Medicine is seeking a Respiratory Therapist to support the Respiratory Department. The role is a PRN Nights position at UAB St Vincent's Birmingham, focusing on evaluation, planning, and delivery of respiratory care to patients with varying needs.

The candidate will assess and implement treatment plans, monitor patient progress, and educate families while responding to emergencies. Licensure per NBRC and Alabama requirements is required, with ALS/NRP/PALS preferred for enhanced capability.

Qualifications

• BLS certification within 30 days of hire or transfer.
• NBRC Registered Credentialed Respiratory Therapist required.
• AL Board of Respiratory Therapy licensure required.
• ALS (Advanced Life Support) preferred.
• NRP certification preferred.
• PALS certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide evaluation of and care for patients with respiratory insufficiencies.
• Assess patient for appropriate type and frequency of treatment and develop a plan of care based on diagnosis.
• Implement and monitor patient care plan and equipment; monitor, record and communicate patient condition; perform advanced respiratory care modalities.
• Evaluate respiratory practices, medication administration, and treatment effectiveness based on outcomes.
• Educate patients and families about health conditions and community resources.
• Respond to emergency resuscitation team codes.
