Job summary

UAB Medicine is looking for a Full-time Registered Polysomnographic Technician based at UAB St. Vincent's Chilton County. This role involves conducting both basic and advanced diagnostic sleep studies while ensuring patient safety and comfort throughout the testing process.

The ideal candidate will be required to maintain and calibrate equipment, collect and analyze patient data, and interpret test results. A BLS Provider certification and registration as a Polysomnographic Technician are essential for this position.

Qualifications

• BLS Provider certification required within 1 month of hire.
• Must be registered as a Registered Polysomnographic Technician (RPSGT) or a Registered Sleep Technologist.
• Experience in conducting sleep studies is necessary.

Job description

• Schedule: Full-time Day Shift – 6:00 am to 4:30 pm, Tuesday – Friday
• Work Location: UAB St. Vincent's Chilton County

What You Will Do

• Perform basic and advanced diagnostic sleep studies.
• Prepare patient and equipment for ordered testing. Interview patient to determine sleep disorder issues and to explain testing procedures.
• Perform and document testing. Monitor patient throughout testing and intervene as necessary to resolve patient needs or equipment issues.
• Collect, analyze and integrate patient information to identify and meet patient-specific needs; score, interpret and report results of sleep studies.
• Prepare, calibrate, repair and maintain equipment required for testing. Determine and report needed repairs/replacements.

What You Will Need

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 month of hire date or job transfer date. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Currently registered as a Registered Polysomnographic Technician (RPSGT) with a certificate from the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists (BRPT) or as a Registered Sleep Technologist with the American Board of Sleep Medicine (ABSM).

Education

• High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience, OR an Associate's degree/Technical degree, OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience.
