Job summary

UAB Medicine is seeking a Registered Polysomnographic Technician to perform diagnostic sleep studies at UAB St. Vincent's East. The ideal candidate must have BLS certification and RPSGT or Registered Sleep Technologist certification. Responsibilities include preparing patients, monitoring throughout the testing process, and documenting results.

Qualifications

• BLS Provider certification must be obtained within 30 days of hire or transfer.
• Registered Polysomnographic Technician (RPSGT) or Registered Sleep Technologist certification is required.
• High School diploma or two years of experience, Associate's degree, or four years of specific experience is required.

Job description

Schedule: Night shift: Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursdays, 6pm-6:30am

Work Location: UAB St. Vincent's East

What You Will Do

• Perform basic and advanced diagnostic sleep studies.
• Prepare patient and equipment for ordered testing. Interview patient to determine sleep disorder issues and to explain testing procedures.
• Perform and document testing. Monitor patient throughout testing and intervene as necessary to resolve patient needs or equipment issues.
• Collect, analyze and integrate patient information to identify and meet patient-specific needs; score, interpret and report results of sleep studies.
• Prepare, calibrate, repair and maintain equipment required for testing. Determine and report needed repairs/replacements.

What You Will Need

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Currently registered as a Registered Polysomnographic Technician (RPSGT) with a certificate from the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists (BRPT) or Registered Sleep Technologist with the American Board of Sleep Medicine (ABSM) required.

Education

• High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate's degree/Technical degree OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
