RPG Programmer

Vaco is hiring an RPG Programmer for our client in Cincinnati, OH.

The RPG Programmer will develop, maintain, and enhance applications on the IBM i (AS/400) platform. This role will support existing applications, troubleshoot technical issues, and contribute to application modernization and integration initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and enhance RPG applications on the IBM i (AS/400) platform
• Work with RPG III, RPG IV, ILE RPG, and Free-Form RPG
• Maintain applications developed with ASNA Visual RPG
• Translate business requirements into technical solutions
• Troubleshoot and resolve application and production issues
• Support application modernization, system integration, and performance improvement initiatives
• Collaborate with developers, analysts, and business teams
• Maintain technical documentation and follow established development standards
• Participate in scheduled production support and on-call support as needed

Required Qualifications

• Professional experience developing applications with RPG on the IBM i platform
• Experience with RPG IV, ILE RPG, CL, and DB2 for i
• Experience maintaining and enhancing existing applications
• Strong troubleshooting, debugging, and analytical skills
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work effectively with technical and business teams
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, a related field, or equivalent professional experience

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Free-Form RPG
• Experience with ASNA Visual RPG
• Experience supporting Accounts Receivable or financial applications
• Familiarity with IBM i system administration concepts
• Experience with SQL, web services, or system integrations
• Experience with ERP systems or application modernization initiatives

Work Location

This is a fully onsite position in downtown Cincinnati, OH.
