Job summary

Sound Royalties is hiring a Royalty Analyst to review and analyze music royalty statements, validate ownership shares, and build revenue projections. You will craft pricing models to support valuation and advance recommendations for artists and rights holders.

Qualifications

  • Four-year college degree and 1–2 years post‑college experience in similar positions.
  • Bilingual in Spanish is a plus but not required.
  • Willingness to look beyond the immediate task to the big picture and stay organized.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze music royalty statements and identify accounts, net shares, and encumbrances.
  • Organize data imports and create earnings summaries from royalty statements; project catalog earnings.
  • Produce projections on royalty earnings using pivot tables, formulas, research, and written summaries.
  • Assess risk and viability of royalty accounts; determine fit with the business model.
  • Develop pricing models and adjust projections; collaborate with royalty specialists and management on pricing.

About the role

The Royalty Analyst is responsible for reviewing and analyzing music royalty statements to evaluate catalog performance and earnings potential. This role involves validating ownership shares, developing revenue projections, and building pricing models that support accurate valuation and advance recommendations for artists, songwriters, and other rights holders.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Perform in-depth analysis of music royalty earnings statements. Identify accounts, net shares and if there are any active or potential encumbrances.
  • Organize and transform data imports in multiple file formats and create earnings summaries based on royalty statements. Complete research on artist catalogs for projections.
  • Produce complete projections on royalty earnings with pivot tables, excel formulas, research, and written summaries.
  • Identify risk, viability, and longevity of royalty accounts. Determine if accounts fit the business model.
  • Produce and adjust the pricing model on relevant projections using risk analysis and customize as necessary.
  • Work with Royalty Specialists for completeness of royalty statements from artists. Consult with other analysts on pricing and approvals on pricing from management when necessary.
  • Provide support with departmental tasks and projects as assigned.
Preferred Candidate Experience and Qualifications
