Job summary

City of Norwalk invites applications for a Part-time Roving Park Ambassador. You will roam Norwalk’s parks, greeting visitors, sharing information about amenities, events, and park guidelines, and serving as a friendly, visible representative of the Department of Recreation & Parks.

The role emphasizes customer service, safety awareness, and collaboration with staff and volunteers. A high school diploma is required, with two years’ experience preferred in parks or community programs.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Associate degree preferred.
• Two years of experience in parks, recreation, customer service, or related field preferred.
• Experience with outdoor environments or facilities is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Provide friendly, knowledgeable assistance to park visitors and guide them to facilities.
• Promote awareness of park rules and monitor park activity.
• Maintain safety by reporting hazards to appropriate personnel.
• Assist with setup, breakdown, and basic support during Park Use events.
• Educate visitors about park history, conservation, and wildlife.
• Patrol assigned areas to ensure permitted use and monitor fields and courts.
• Conduct monthly park inspections and submit reports.
• Collaborate with Parks & Recreation staff, volunteers, and other City departments.
