Job summary

North Bend School District 13 is seeking a Roving Educational Assistant - Special Education for the 10-month, 6.5-hour day schedule. Under direct supervision of a licensed teacher, you will support instructional activities, help implement individualized plans, and work with students in small or large groups.

The role requires an Associate's Degree or two years of college (72 quarter hours) or passing the Highly Qualified Paraprofessional Assessment test, plus being 18+ and able to communicate

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree or two years of college (72 quarter hours) or passed the Highly Qualified Paraprofessional Assessment test.
• 18 years of age or older.
• Ability to communicate effectively with students and staff.
• Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality.
• Ability to supervise students in instructional settings without constant teacher oversight; teamwork.
• Ability to work in physically demanding environments; stamina and lifting as required.
• Knowledge of English usage and basic math.
• Ability to type and operate standard office equipment.
• Ability to work with students who may exhibit aggressive behavior as required by assignment.
• Demonstrates moral character and serves as a positive role model.
• Alternative to above requirements as deemed appropriate by School Board/Administration.
• Physical requirements: stamina, standing, walking, bending and lifting; possible exposure to bodily fluids.

Responsibilities

• Assist teachers in planning and implementing learning experiences; provide feedback on student performance.
• Assist in devising strategies tailored to individual students' needs and abilities.
• Support instruction in group or one-on-one settings, often without direct supervision by a teacher.
• Maintain high ethical standards and confidentiality of student information.
• Assist in monitoring classroom management per district discipline procedures.
• Supervise students in and out of the classroom to maintain a safe environment.
• Handle clerical tasks and maintain student records.
