Job summary

Sioux Falls School District is hiring a Roving Substitute Custodian - Grade JX for Tuesday through Saturday shifts. The role supports a safe, clean environment across school facilities with a 1.0 FTE commitment and 40 hours per week for a 12-month year.

Starting wage is $22.55 per hour. Applicants must be able to travel to multiple sites, lift heavy loads, and pass boiler trainings as required. Employment is contingent on background checks and district policies.

Qualifications

• Ability to drive to more than one location during a work shift.
• Good physical health including ability to lift 75 pounds and work at high/difficult places.
• Ability to communicate and follow written and oral instructions.
• Requires low pressure boiler training and willingness to take advanced boiler training.
• Ability to work unsupervised and maintain good attendance.

Responsibilities

• Sweep, dust, arrange furniture and clean chalk boards; set up for activities.
• Washes walls, woodwork, windows; cleans and polishes metal surfaces; maintains floors.
• Operate heating, A/C, ventilation, electrical and mechanical systems within scope.
• Assist in lawn and playground maintenance; snow/ice removal.
• Set up and tear down for school activities; secure building after shift.
• Work a variety of custodial schedules as substitute; share holiday/extended day duties.
