Job summary

Mason City Schools is seeking a Transportation Database & Route Support staff member to maintain routing software data and support route operations. This role communicates with parents, drivers, and staff to ensure accurate student routing information and timely updates.

The position requires a high school diploma, routing software experience, and strong multitasking abilities in a fast-paced environment. Collaboration with the transportation team and adherence to state/federal pupil

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to communicate effectively with staff, administrators and members of the community.
• Experience and knowledge of routing and scheduling procedures.
• Ability to work in a demanding fast paced environment; able to multitask.
• High knowledge of computer programs such as MS Word, Excel; with emphasis on routing software.
• Ability to collaborate and work cooperatively in a team environment.
• Possess basic knowledge of State and Federal Pupil Transportation rules, regulations and procedures.
• Prior record of consistent attendance.
• Ability to work in a fast paced, sometimes hectic environment; able to multi-task.
• Ability to collaborate and work cooperatively in a team environment.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule.

Responsibilities

• Maintain student database in routing software; update as needed to stay current.
• Verify nonpublic transportation for eligibility and residency.
• Work with Student database manager to keep student information accurate in routing software.
• Communicate route or stop changes to parents.
• Keep drivers informed of student changes to routes.
• Assist Lead Routing Specialist with accurate data; may assist with routing as necessary.
• Assist parents with bus stop information, registration and stop change procedures.
• Handle parent calls with caring and affectionate response to their needs.
• Communicate with drivers via two-way radio.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
