Job summary

Interstate Batteries seeks a Route Supervisor to lead the Route Service Manager team and drivers, driving route expansion and sales performance. You will train staff, monitor performance, and ensure DOT compliance while maintaining strong dealer relationships across routes.

The role emphasizes safety, reporting, and hands-on support on routes and fleet management, with a focus on leadership and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Minimum of 2 years demonstrated sales, customer service and delivery experience.
• Prior sales management experience preferred.
• Strong customer service skills.
• Ability to read, write and compute basic math.
• Strong written, interpersonal and verbal communication skills.
• Strong organization and time management skills and able to work under pressure.
• Working knowledge of carrier operations, shipment routing and distribution methods.
• Understanding of state, federal and interstate commerce regulations.
• Strong training and coaching skills.
• Ability to operate a motor vehicle and/or forklift.
• Must have a clean drivers record AND meet driver qualifications requirements.

Responsibilities

• Manage, train and develop Route Service Managers (RSMs) and other drivers.
• Collaborate with Market General Manager to set goals for RSMs and ensure the team achieves them.
• Generate and distribute daily and weekly reports for RSMs and drivers.
• Train all RSMs and drivers on policies and procedures including paperwork for opening/closing accounts.
• Monitor operation’s financial results and drivers’ impact on results.
• Ensure drivers comply with DOT and safety rules and regulations.
• Coordinate with site Manager to maintain and service vehicle fleet.
• Maintain contact with dealers for feedback on service quality.
• Fill in on route or hot shot as needed.
• Assist with loading/unloading and counting trucks.
• Ride along with drivers to identify training needs and provide feedback.
• Encourage drivers to identify ways to generate GP at every stop.
• Foster a culture of open communication and positive attitude within the team.
• Fulfill all driver program requirements as specified by the manager.
