Job summary

Sunbelt Solomon in Decatur, TN is seeking a Route Driver to transport transformer units and materials to assigned locations, ensuring timely, safe deliveries. The role involves operating trucks, loading/unloading, and following safety protocols.

You must plan routes, communicate with dispatch, maintain logs, and service customers per the commercial team's schedule. A High School diploma, a Class A CDL, and 3 years of truck-driving experience are required.

Qualifications

  • HS diploma/GED required.
  • 3 years working experience as a truck driver required.
  • Valid Class A CDL required.
  • Ability to operate both manual and automatic transmission vehicles required.
  • ELD (Electronic Logging Device) experience preferred.
  • Clean and acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR)
  • Basic knowledge of truck maintenance and repair, including identifying and reporting any mechanical or electrical issues
  • Possess a strong work ethic, excellent communication skills, problem-solving abilities, cooperative attitude, strong attention to detail and can work in a team environment.
  • Adheres to the company’s employee handbook policies and embodies the organization’s core values.
  • Complete company compliance and safety training when required .
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule and work under pressure in a fast-paced work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Operate trucks safely, following all traffic laws and adhering to company policies and procedures.
  • Load and unload transformer units and materials, ensuring that items are properly secured during transit.
  • Plan and follow the best routes, taking into account traffic and weather conditions to ensure timely delivery of goods.
  • Manage an active list of customers and ensure customers are serviced according to the frequency of picks ups established by the commercial team
  • Conduct regular vehicle inspections to maintain its safe operation, identifying and reporting any mechanical or electrical issues that require attention.
  • Communicate effectively with team members, dispatchers and clients, updating on delivery statuses and possible delays .
  • Adhere to safety protocols, such as wearing seat belts and personal protective equipment when required .
  • Complete delivery logs and other necessary paperwork accurately and in a timely manner .
  • Communicate courteously with other drivers, pedestrians, and road users.
  • Interacting professionally with clients and notating customer preferences, acting as a contact for the company

Description

  • Compensation for this role is hourly . Drivers can expect an average of 40-50 hours a week, however this can vary based on business needs.
Requirements
  • HS diploma/GED required .
  • 3 years working experience as a truck driver required .
