Job summary

Fortune Fish & Gourmet is seeking a dispatcher reporting to the Transportation Manager. The dispatcher will log each call, provide answers by retrieving information from the necessary departments, and supervise field units’ routes to prioritize and organize their schedules.

Responsibilities include responding to issues and coordinating with departments or field units, dispatching orders, prioritizing calls, directing crews via radio, phone, or computer, monitoring routes, and maintaining logs.

• Receive and dispatch orders for products or deliveries.
• Prioritize calls according to urgency and importance.
• Use radio, phone, or computer to send crews, vehicles, or other field units to appropriate locations.
• Monitor the route and status of field units to coordinate and prioritize their schedule.
• Provide field units with information about orders, traffic, obstacles, and requirements.
• Enter data in computer system and maintain logs and records of calls, activities, and other information.
• Scheduling and dispatching drivers, work crews, vehicles, or equipment to appropriate locations according to predetermined schedules, customer requests or immediate needs
• Speaking with supervisors or customers to resolve problems, requests for services or equipment.
• Preparing daily work such as schedules.
