Job summary

The City of North Port is seeking a dependable Solid Waste Driver to operate two collection vehicles and service assigned routes efficiently. You will perform daily pre-trip inspections, monitor vehicle safety, and transport refuse to the disposal point while maintaining accurate weight tickets and reporting issues in a timely manner.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma preferred or equivalent.
• One year of experience operating similar equipment.
• Valid Florida CDL Class B with airbrakes endorsement by date of hire.

Responsibilities

• Operate two solid waste vehicles, one primary vehicle on an assigned route.
• Perform daily pre-trip inspections and record findings.
• Transport refuse to disposal point and manage weight tickets.
• Report service, access, or delivery problems promptly.
• Maintain vehicles and equipment; ensure professional appearance of vehicle and crew.
• Provide support to department programs and emergency operations as needed.
