Job summary

City of Bradenton’s Public Works - Solid Waste Recycling seeks a Solid Waste Driver 2 to operate a large rear-load packer truck on assigned garbage routes. You will work a 4-day, 10-hour shift and may be called for overtime, evenings, weekends, or emergencies.

The role requires a valid Florida driver’s license, a Class B CDL with air brakes, and a good driving record. Physical stamina for heavy lifting and exposure to outdoor conditions are essential.

Qualifications

• Requires valid Florida driver's license and Class B CDL with air brakes endorsement.
• High school diploma or GED or equivalent.
• Minimum 6 months experience as Solid Waste Driver-Trainee or equivalent.
• Good driving record and adherence to safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Operate a rear-load packer truck on assigned garbage routes.
• Direct Solid Waste Worker in proper collection methods.
• Dump containers into the truck; perform incidental manual loading.
• Make minor repairs and adjustments to vehicles.
• Answer citizen questions about what can/cannot be hauled.
• Comply with state and local driving laws and ordinances.
