Job summary

Charter Steel seeks a January 2027 start for a Materials Engineering Rotational Program in Ohio, with rotations in Cleveland or Fostoria, OH. The program accelerates growth for new grads in materials/metallurgical engineering.

You'll learn plant operations, perform quality data collection, root cause analysis, and contribute to process improvements while traveling as needed. Relocation support is provided.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Materials Engineering required.
• Related internship or work experience preferred.
• High initiative for excellence, results, and process improvement.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Analytical, critical thinking and problem solving skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills to work with all levels of the business.

Responsibilities

• Learn plant operations and how metallurgical theories are applied to improve processes.
• Understand how process changes affect product performance.
• Collect and communicate product quality data.
• Perform root cause analysis of process-related defects.
• Assist in troubleshooting customer complaints with failure analyses.
• Contribute to process improvements through data analysis and cross-functional collaboration.
• Participate in Six Sigma, Orange Belt, and improvement teams.
• Answer inquiries from other departments and monitor production for issues.
• Conduct customer and internal tours as needed.
