Job summary

Charter Steel is hiring for a December 2026 graduate for our Materials Engineering Rotational Program. A recent Materials/Metallurgical Engineering grad will rotate between departments at full-time status to accelerate growth and development.

WI-based rotations in Saukville, with Ohio options and relocation support. Start date January 2027; travel as needed is expected, and the program emphasizes hands-on learning and cross-functional exposure.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Materials Engineering.
  • Related internship or work experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated abilities in planning and communication of ideas and concepts.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to work with individuals at all levels of the business.
  • Excellent analytical, critical thinking and problem solving skills.
  • Demonstrated passion and intellectual curiosity within the steel industry.
  • Willingness to travel as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Learn the operations of the plant and how metallurgical theories are incorporated.
  • Understand the effect of process changes on product performance.
  • Collect and communicate product quality data.
  • Perform Root Cause Analysis of process-related defects.
  • Assist in trouble-shooting customer complaints with failure analysis.
  • Contribute to process improvements based on quality data and collaboration.
  • Participate in Six Sigma, Orange Belt and problem solving teams.
  • Answer inquiries from other departments and monitor production for issues.
  • Conduct customer and internal tours based on product and process needs.
