Job summary

OTC Industrial Technologies seeks an experienced estimator/technician to review teardown reports and inspection findings for industrial pumps and rotating equipment. You will define the scope of work with Shop Management, source parts, and prepare detailed repair estimates and quotations.

The role combines office work with hands-on shop coordination, requiring strong written communication, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple estimates and ERP entries.

Qualifications

• At least 2 years of industrial rotating equipment repair experience.
• A relevant technical or engineering degree is preferred, but equivalent rotating equipment repair experience is accepted in place of a degree.
• Working knowledge of industrial pumps, common repair procedures, and major components.
• Prior estimating experience is preferred, not required, for candidates with strong hands-on rotating equipment repair knowledge and a willingness to learn.

Responsibilities

• Review technician teardown writeups, inspection findings, and photographs for pumps and rotating equipment.
• Clarify inspection findings, confirm repair recommendations, and define the scope of work with shop leadership.
• Identify required replacement parts and obtain supplier quotations, pricing, availability, and lead times.
• Review and verify estimated labor hours with shop leadership for disassembly, repair, machining, reassembly, and testing.
• Prepare accurate As Found Reports describing equipment condition, findings, and required work.
• Develop complete repair estimates covering parts, labor, and outside services per company pricing guidelines.
• Enter quoted parts, labor hours, and pricing into the ERP system and generate quotations.
• Forward completed quotations to the appropriate salesperson for customer communication and follow-up.
• Maintain accurate quote records and meet estimating deadlines.

Job description

What You'll Do:

• Review technician teardown writeups, inspection findings, and photographs for industrial pumps and other rotating equipment.
• Work with the Shop Manager and Regional Service Manager to clarify inspection findings, confirm repair recommendations, and define the scope of work.
• Identify required replacement parts and obtain supplier quotations, pricing, availability, and lead times.
• Review and verify estimated labor hours with shop leadership for disassembly, repair, machining, reassembly, and testing.
• Prepare clear, accurate "As Found Reports" describing equipment condition, inspection findings, and the work required to complete the repair.
• Develop "As Found Reports" with guidance from the Shop Manager and Regional Service Manager during training, progressing toward independent preparation.
• Use equipment manuals, drawings, parts diagrams, and previous job information to support accurate technical reports and estimates.
• Develop complete repair estimates covering parts, labor, and applicable outside services in accordance with company pricing guidelines.
• Enter quoted parts, labor hours, and related pricing accurately into the company ERP system.
• Generate complete repair quotations through the ERP system, following applicable pricing standards and margin targets.
• Forward completed quotations to the appropriate salesperson for customer communication and follow-up.
• Maintain accurate quote records and supporting documentation, identify missing information early, and meet estimating deadlines.

What You'll Need:

• At least 2 years of industrial rotating equipment repair experience through hands-on repair, estimating/quoting, or repair shop/service management.
• A relevant technical or engineering degree is preferred, but equivalent rotating equipment repair experience is accepted in place of a degree.
• Working knowledge of industrial pumps, common repair procedures, and major components; experience with other rotating equipment is beneficial.
• Prior estimating experience is preferred, not required, for candidates with strong hands-on rotating equipment repair knowledge and a willingness to learn.
• Ability to review technician findings, understand repair scope, and communicate work required accurately in writing.
• Ability to work with shop leadership to verify repair labor hours, parts requirements, and vendor pricing.
• Ability to interpret equipment manuals, parts diagrams, technical drawings, and specifications.
• Strong math, written communication, organizational, and attention-to-detail skills, with the ability to manage multiple estimates.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and the ability to learn ERP quotation systems; previous ERP experience is beneficial.
• Comfort working primarily in an office while periodically coordinating in an industrial repair shop, with exposure to noise, heat, and heavy equipment.
