Job summary

OTC Industrial Technologies in St. Louis, MO is seeking a Rotating Equipment Repair Estimator to turn repair insights into actionable quotes. You will review teardown reports, inspect findings, and prepare thorough quotations for parts and labor.

With 2+ years in rotating equipment repair and a technical or engineering background, you’ll collaborate with shop leadership, utilize ERP and Excel, and progress toward independent quote preparation.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years in industrial rotating equipment repair or estimating/quoting.
• Technical or engineering degree preferred, or equivalent rotating equipment repair experience.
• Knowledge of industrial pumps and major components; other rotating equipment is a plus.
• Prior estimating experience preferred, but not required for strong hands-on workers.
• Ability to review findings and communicate repair scope accurately in writing.

Responsibilities

• Review teardown writeups, inspection findings, and photos for pumps and rotating equipment.
• Clarify findings with Shop Manager and Regional Service Manager to define scope.
• Identify required parts and obtain supplier quotations, pricing, and lead times.
• Review labor hour estimates with leadership for disassembly, repair, machining, reassembly, testing.
• Prepare clear As Found Reports describing equipment condition and work required.
• Develop As Found Reports during training, progressing toward independence.
• Utilize manuals, drawings, and prior info to support reports and estimates.
• Develop complete repair estimates covering parts, labor, and outside services.
• Enter quotes into ERP and generate quotations for customers.
• Maintain quote records and meet estimating deadlines.

What You'll Do:

• Review technician teardown writeups, inspection findings, and photographs for industrial pumps and other rotating equipment.
• Work with the Shop Manager and Regional Service Manager to clarify inspection findings, confirm repair recommendations, and define the scope of work.
• Identify required replacement parts and obtain supplier quotations, pricing, availability, and lead times.
• Review and verify estimated labor hours with shop leadership for disassembly, repair, machining, reassembly, and testing.
• Prepare clear, accurate “As Found Reports” describing equipment condition, inspection findings, and the work required to complete the repair.
• Develop “As Found Reports” with guidance from the Shop Manager and Regional Service Manager during training, progressing toward independent preparation.
• Use equipment manuals, drawings, parts diagrams, and previous job information to support accurate technical reports and estimates.
• Develop complete repair estimates covering parts, labor, and applicable outside services in accordance with company pricing guidelines.
• Enter quoted parts, labor hours, and related pricing accurately into the company ERP system.
• Generate complete repair quotations through the ERP system, following applicable pricing standards and margin targets.
• Forward completed quotations to the appropriate salesperson for customer communication and follow-up.
• Maintain accurate quote records and supporting documentation, identify missing information early, and meet estimating deadlines.

What You'll Need:

• At least 2 years of industrial rotating equipment repair experience through hands-on repair, estimating/quoting, or repair shop/service management.
• A relevant technical or engineering degree is preferred, but equivalent rotating equipment repair experience is accepted in place of a degree.
• Working knowledge of industrial pumps, common repair procedures, and major components; experience with other rotating equipment is beneficial.
• Prior estimating experience is preferred, not required, for candidates with strong hands-on rotating equipment repair knowledge and a willingness to learn.
• Ability to review technician findings, understand repair scope, and communicate work required accurately in writing.
• Ability to work with shop leadership to verify repair labor hours, parts requirements, and vendor pricing.
• Ability to interpret equipment manuals, parts diagrams, technical drawings, and specifications.
• Strong math, written communication, organizational, and attention-to-detail skills, with the ability to manage multiple estimates.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and the ability to learn ERP quotation systems; previous ERP experience is beneficial.
• Comfort working primarily in an office while periodically coordinating in an industrial repair shop, with exposure to noise, heat, and heavy equipment.
