Job summary

MISTRAS Group is seeking Rope Access Level I or II Technicians with a 40-hour Radiation Safety Certification for full-time, on-site work in Texas. Certification through SPRAT or IRATA is required or pursued via company training.

Ideal candidates will demonstrate safety focus, teamwork, and strong customer service, with readiness to support field and administrative tasks, reports, and safety documentation.

Qualifications

  • Maintains Level I or II Rope Access Technician certification (SPRAT or IRATA).
  • Has 40-hour Radiation Safety Certification.
  • Level II UTT Certification is highly preferred.
  • High school graduate or GED; bachelor’s degree is an asset.
  • Valid driver’s license in primary residence state.
  • Proficiency with MS Office and online communication tools.

Responsibilities

  • Represent MISTRAS professionally at all times.
  • Provide exemplary customer service and support (internal and external).
  • Work within a team to complete field and admin tasks on time with quality, including SWP/JHA, rescue protocols, reports, and field documentation.
  • Follow safety procedures, site permits, lock-out/tag-out, JHA details, and related controls.
  • Lead daily safety meetings and update JHA as hazards or mitigations change.
  • Provide leadership, training, and performance feedback to team members.
  • Maintain liaison with Project Manager(s) and leaders; escalate concerns as needed.
  • Perform duties per Rope Access Procedures and rescue readiness standards.
  • Contribute to rescue preparedness, management, and advanced techniques.

Job Overview

MISTRAS Group is seeking Rope Access Level I or II Technicians with a 40‑hour Radiation Safety Certification for full‑time, nested positions. Level II UTT Certification is preferred.

  • Certified as a Level I or II Rope Access Technician (SPRAT or IRATA), or with intent to obtain such certification through company training.
  • Exhibits safety, integrity, technical capabilities, customer service, and ability to function effectively in a team environment.
  • Shows commitment to serving as a positive and constructive role model for team members.
Major Responsibilities
  • Represents MISTRAS in a positive and professional manner at all times.
  • Provides exemplary customer service and support (internal and external) that reflects integrity, collaboration, respect, and timely follow‑through.
  • Works effectively within a team structure to complete field and administrative assignments on time with good quality, including Safe Work Plan (JHA), pre‑planned rescue protocols, reports, and safety/operational field documentation.
  • Adheres to the company’s safety procedures, focusing on safety, health, and risk management, ensuring all site permit restrictions, clearances, lock‑out/tag‑out procedures, JHA details, etc. are known and followed.
  • Conducts a daily safety meeting with all assigned personnel, revises the JHA when new hazards or mitigation strategies arise, and ensures all parties are informed of such changes.
  • Uses effective leadership, management, and training to shape performance of assigned team members in line with company expectations, job descriptions, and policy standards.
  • Documents and provides timely feedback to recognize, reinforce, or modify performance and boosts or maintains team morale when appropriate.
  • Serves as a safe, effective, and valued member of the team, reflected in periodic performance assessments and customer feedback.
  • Keeps MISTRAS Project Manager(s) and other company leaders informed as appropriate.
  • Proactively contacts leadership staff to engage assistance in reporting, documenting, and resolving operational, safety, or performance concerns.
  • Adheres to the scope and technique standards of rope access certification, demonstrating detailed understanding and mastery of the skills and standards outlined in the company’s Rope Access Procedures.
  • Develops and maintains extensive knowledge of rescue preparedness, rescue management, and advanced rescue techniques.
  • Follows company policies, procedures, and work instructions at all times.
  • Completes all training assignments on time and with satisfactory performance ratings.
  • Is punctual, prepared, and ready to work at the designated start time for each shift.
  • Meets availability and attendance standards set by the company.
  • Knows, understands, and exemplifies the company’s Expedition Behaviors consistently.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned individually and as outlined in company policies, procedures, and work instructions.
Minimum Requirements
  • Maintains certification as Level I or II Rope Access Technician (SPRAT or IRATA).
  • Has a 40‑hour Radiation Safety Certification.
  • Additional Level II UTT Certification is highly preferred.
  • High school graduate or GED (a relevant bachelor's or advanced degrees is an asset).
  • Valid driver’s license in the state of primary residence, without restrictions.
  • Can effectively use technology, including computers and communication devices, with competency in Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, etc.) and online communication platforms; capable of basic technology troubleshooting and proper use of communication tools.
