An opportunity at a leading healthcare provider in Providence for a Room Service Host, responsible for the timely delivery of meals and communication with patients and staff. This full-time position requires strong interpersonal skills and food service experience in a patient-friendly environment.
Summary:
Under the general supervision of the Patient Services Director and management team, the Room Service Host is responsible for effectively communicating with patients, family members, and staff when distributing menus to new admissions, obtaining meal choices, and delivering/collecting patient trays, snacks, and tube feeding products. The role also involves coordinating with nursing staff regarding patients' diets and meal delivery.
Responsibilities:
- Communicate effectively, timely, and courteously with patients, nursing, and family members when obtaining meal choices to enter into the CBORD system, verifying patient satisfaction, identifying meal service problems, and assisting with missed meal reports.
- Collaborate with dietitians or dietetic technicians when patient food, beverage, or supplement intake is poor.
- Communicate patients' special requests and diet education needs.
- Accurately enter and update meal selections, orders, preferences, and special requests in the CBORD system, maintaining current patient diet information. If a patient cannot verbally select a meal, take the order or enter it into CBORD On Demand.
- Maintain a clean and sanitary work environment, perform cleaning, waste disposal, and equipment duties per departmental policies, including monitoring and rotating floor stock, checking refrigerators, and discarding out-of-date products.
- Identify and react to safety hazards promptly.
- Deliver patient nourishments, snacks, and tube feeding products.
- Work effectively within a team environment.
- Perform other duties as assigned, including duties of the Room Service Call Representative as needed.
Other information:
Basic Knowledge:
- Ability to read and communicate effectively in English.
- Basic math skills for measuring and calculating percentages.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills.
- Basic computer skills.
Experience:
- At least one year of food service or customer service experience required.
- CBORD system experience preferred.
Work Environment and Physical Requirements:
- Mostly standing and walking, with possible repetitive motions, reaching, pulling, and pushing.
- Ability to communicate effectively via speech, sight, and hearing in various settings.
- Ability to lift up to 35 lbs.
- Exposure to patient environment.
