Summary:
Under the general supervision of the Patient Services Director and management team, the Room Service Host is responsible for effectively communicating in a timely and courteous manner with patients, family members, and staff when distributing menus to new admissions, obtaining meal choices, and delivering/collecting patient trays, snacks, and tube feeding products. The role also involves coordinating with nursing staff regarding patients' diets and meal delivery.
Responsibilities:
- Communicate effectively and courteously with patients, nursing, and family members to obtain meal choices and enter them into the CBORD computerized Room Service tablet system.
- Verify patient satisfaction, identify meal service problems, and assist with missed meal reports.
- Communicate with dietitians or dietetic technicians about poor patient food/beverage/supplement intake.
- Handle patient requests for special diets or diet education.
- Accurately enter and update all meal selections, orders, preferences, and special requests in the CBORD system, maintaining current patient diet information.
- Take verbal meal orders from patients unable to do so and enter them into CBORD On Demand.
- Maintain a clean and sanitary work environment, perform cleaning, waste disposal, and equipment operation duties as per departmental policies, including monitoring and restocking supplies.
- Check refrigerators and storage areas for cleanliness and discard out-of-date products.
- Identify and react to safety hazards promptly.
- Deliver patient nourishments, snacks, and tube feeding products.
- Collaborate effectively within a team environment.
- Perform other duties as assigned, including potentially serving as a Room Service Call Representative as needed.
Other information:
BASIC KNOWLEDGE:
- Ability to read and communicate effectively in English.
- Basic math skills: addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages, using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills.
- Basic computer skills.
EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum of one year of food service or customer service experience required.
- CBORD experience preferred.
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Mostly standing and walking; may involve repetitive motions, reaching, pulling, and pushing.
- Ability to communicate effectively via speech, sight, and hearing through various means.
- Ability to lift up to 35 lbs.
- Exposure to patient environment.
