Job Purpose
The Room Attendant performs routine duties in cleaning and servicing guest rooms and baths under supervision of the housekeeping supervisor. Promotes a positive image of the property to guests, must be pleasant, honest, friendly, and able to address guest requests and problems.
Job Duties
- Adheres to the Gasparilla Inn 4 Steps to Memorable Service.
- Exhibits the Gasparilla Inn’s Core Values.
- Uses correct cleaning chemicals for designated surfaces, according to OSHA regulations and hotel requirements.
- Cleans guest rooms by category of priority or as directed in the morning line-up.
- Transports cart with cleaning supplies, amenities, and linen to assigned guest rooms and positions securely.
- Serves assigned guest rooms.
- Cleans as needed: empties trash and trash containers.
- Removes all dirty linen and replaces with clean linen.
- Removes soil, dirt, soap build-up, and hair from bathroom fixtures and surfaces.
- Replaces bathroom amenities in correct amounts and locations.
- Removes dirty bed linen and makes beds with clean linen free of tears or stains.
- Replaces laundry bags, slips, and ensures 18 hangers in closet.
- Cleans closets, door tracks, and removes items left by guests.
- Dusts and polishes all furniture, realigns furniture as per floor plan.
- Checks under beds, chairs, sofas, and cushions for debris and removes if present.
- Inspects furniture for damages and reports issues.
- Removes dust, debris from electronic devices and sets correct time on clocks.
- Cleans lamps, light switches, phones, and remote controls.
- Empties and wipes ice buckets, removes dust from drapes, and cleans balconies or patios.
- Removes dust from blinds, ensures fire safety signs are present and in good condition.
- Removes dust, marks, and fingerprints from entrance doors and trims.
- Checks and cleans A/C units, vents, and thermostats, sets thermostat to 72°F.
- Ensures cleanliness of baseboards, ledges, and corners, vacuums carpets, and reports stains.
- Updates the status of cleaning on assignment sheets and restocks carts at shift end.
- Ensures security of keys and storage, completes work orders for maintenance.
- Maintains knowledge of VIPs, group schedules, and special requests.
- Provides warm welcome and anticipates guest needs, assists team members, promotes positive guest relations.
- Adheres to safety standards, uses equipment properly, and performs other duties as assigned.
Working Conditions and Assignments
This role requires standing and walking 90% of the time, physical exertion including bending, twisting, kneeling, pushing, and pulling up to 50 pounds. Exposure to noise, outdoor weather conditions, and the need for good communication and vision are necessary.
Qualifications
- Required: Physical mobility, attention to detail, professional attitude.
- Preferred: 1 month of luxury resort experience, high school diploma.
