Role Overview

The host plays a critical role in the guest experience, as he/she is the first and last person to interact with our guests. By definition, a host is ‘the person who receives or entertains other people as guests’. You are responsible for setting the tone!

Responsibilities and Authorities
  • Always treat guests with courtesy and respect in a variety of situations.
  • Display honesty & integrity.
  • Be an inspirational leader who motivates team members to be engaged in serving others, always seeking opportunities to improve.
  • Build strong partnerships with internal customers and outside vendors.
Specific Duties
  • Greet all guests warmly upon arrival.
  • Know restaurant and company information, including hours of operation, directions, neighborhood insights, sister properties, and staff names and titles.
  • Recognize regular and VIP guests to personalize their experience.
  • Use your personality and hospitality skills to provide a seamless, memorable guest experience.
  • Dress professionally and maintain a cheerful, welcoming demeanor.
  • Check guests in and walk them to their tables, engaging in friendly conversation.
  • Present menus and assist guests with their selections.
  • Handle guest complaints professionally and work to resolve issues, involving management when necessary.
  • Master the operations of the Open Table system.
  • Complete all opening and closing side work as assigned.
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues and guests.
  • Coordinate with the Maitre’d regarding table statuses and guest issues.
  • Manage reservations, including confirming bookings and handling special requests.
  • Answer phone calls warmly and professionally, addressing guest needs and requests.
  • Handle reservations and communication via email and telephone.
  • Manage credit card authorizations and disputes accurately.
  • Maintain an organized reservation system and a clean reservation area.
  • Understand the restaurant's floor plan and service flow thoroughly.
  • Share pertinent information about VIP reservations, cancellations, and guest issues with management.
  • Remember that phone interactions are a key part of the guest experience, as you are the first impression of the restaurant.
Requirements
  • 1-2 years of similar experience.
  • Understanding of reservation systems (Open Table).
Seasonal Period & Compensation
  • End date: September 15, 2025 (subject to business needs).
  • Rate of pay: $22.00/hour.
