The Cambria Hotel in Detroit is expanding and looking for dynamic and energetic Bartender to join our team!

Job Summary:

The Rooftop Bartender will prepare and serve alcoholic and nonalcoholic beverages to patrons, oversee the stock of liquor and bar supplies, and collect money for drinks served. Please note – this is a seasonal position. This position will be staffed from early spring through early autumn.

  • Demonstrate a complete understanding of all policies, procedures and standards stated in Cambria Detroit Handbook.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace.
  • Place products on display with labels facing the customer and return items to their designated space.
  • Have an in-depth knowledge of all spirits, beer, wine, as well as house recipes for all drinks.
  • Have an in-depth understanding of all food and non-alcohol related products offered.
  • Welcome each guest personally within 90 seconds.
  • Communicate with guests using clear and enthusiastic words, tone, and body language always.
  • Work as a team with all personnel to maintain an effective atmosphere and an efficient food and beverage service.
  • Work with others to keep all areas cleaned and stocked to Cambria standards.
  • Mix, garnish and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks for patrons of bar and dining.

  • Enter drink orders into POS system immediately, collect money from guests for drinks served and make change.
  • Arrange bottles and glasses to maintain an attractive display.
  • Wash and polish stemware and glassware.
  • Be attentive to guest needs.
  • Monitor guests for signs of intoxication.
  • Responsibly serve alcohol.
  • Serve food as needed.
  • Other duties as directed.
Required Skills/Abilities:
  • The ideal candidate for this position must be extremely friendly, outgoing, and organized.
  • Positive attitude and interpersonal skills.
  • Flexibility when working alternating shifts.
  • Ability to work the rooftop schedule which is evenings and weekends. This is a seasonal position.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent observational skills and situational awareness.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills including dealing with difficult and rude patrons.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Extensive knowledge of drink preparation, food, and service.
  • Ability to learn cash register software used by bar/restaurant.
Education and Experience:
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Prior bartending experience required.
Physical Requirements:
  • Continuously reach, bend, lift, carry, stoop, and wipe.
  • Must be able to walk/stand for entire shift.
  • Must be able to lift to 35 pounds.
  • Ability to traverse all parts of the restaurant quickly.
  • Must be of legal age to serve alcoholic beverages in accordance with Federal and State laws.
