Job summary

The Durable Slate Company is hiring a Roofing Technician in the Columbus, OH area. Earn 23–45+/hr with paid training while you develop specialized skills in slate, copper, clay tile, and traditional roofing systems.

No slate or historic roofing experience required; we teach the specialized skills to capable roofers. Expect health, dental, and vision coverage after 90 days, plus 401(k), paid holidays, and travel support for out-of-town projects.

Qualifications

• At least one year of roofing experience or related work.
• Basic knowledge of roofing installation, repair or flashing.
• Commitment to safe work practices and the ability to work outdoors.
• Valid driver's license and ability to learn specialized slate, copper, tile, and sheet metal techniques.

Responsibilities

• Install, repair, and maintain slate, copper, clay tile, and EPDM roofing systems.

Your Day-to-Day Work

• Install, repair, and maintain roofing systems, including slate, copper, clay tile, and EPDM
• Learn specialized installation, flashing, and sheet metal techniques
• Collaborate with team members to deliver durable, high-quality results
• Follow jobsite safety procedures and maintain an organized work area
• Travel to project sites as required

Most work is local, and employees generally return home daily. Some assignments may involve overnight travel, with applicable per diem and lodging provided.

What You Bring

• At least one year of roofing experience
• Basic knowledge of roofing installation, repair, or flashing
• A commitment to safe work practices
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and at heights
• Ability to use ladders, lifts, scaffolding, and other roofing equipment safely
• Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds or more
• Reliability, attention to detail, and a willingness to learn
• Valid driver's license

Slate, copper, sheet metal, and historic roofing experience are welcome but not required.

Candidates must be able to meet applicable pre-employment screening requirements, including a drug screen and background check.
