Job summary

The Roofer position with the Anchorage School District involves examining and repairing various roof types across school buildings. You will work on roof alteration plans and support maintenance tasks, on a 4/10 schedule with weekends off.

The district offers paid leave and a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, HSA, FSA and life insurance, plus a PERS retirement plan. Ideal candidates have at least two years of roofing experience, knowledge of roofing and carpentry

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED or current enrollment in a GED program.
Minimum of two years of roofing experience in the past four years.
Knowledge of safety procedures for roofing work.
Knowledge of IRMA Roofing Systems, hot roofs, built-up roofs and metal roofs.
Knowledge of standard carpentry practices.

Responsibilities

Troubleshoots and repairs major roofing systems including asphalt shingles and wood shingles.
Uses and maintains hand and mechanical roofing tools.
Under supervision, coordinates and establishes plans for alterations for existing roofing systems.
May perform carpentry and maintenance of doors and related hardware.
Interprets and works from plans, prints, specifications, and procedures.
Writes reports as required.
Routinely works at heights over 20 feet.
Follows oral and written instructions.
Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with others and maintenance procedures.
