Job summary

Wayne County Public Schools is seeking a Roofing Worker to inspect, repair, and maintain roofs, gutters, and downspouts on school facilities. The role involves replacing coverings, applying waterproofing materials, and coordinating with supervisory staff.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Experience in construction or roofing preferred.
• Aptitude for carpentry/roofing demonstrated in prior work or activities.

Responsibilities

• Inspect roofs, gutters, and downspouts for leaks.
• Make minor repairs during inspections.
• Report structural weaknesses to supervisor.
• Repair roofs by replacing covering and waterproofing.
• Cut roofing paper to size and secure it.
• Align roofing material with roof edge.
• Secure shingles and sheets with asphalt or nails.
• Cut or fit flashing strips.
• Apply hot asphalt, tar, or sealants.
• Set up and check scaffolding.
• Assign work to laborers and supervise progress.
