Wayne County Public Schools is seeking a Roofing Worker to inspect, repair, and maintain roofs, gutters, and downspouts on school facilities. The role involves replacing coverings, applying waterproofing materials, and coordinating with supervisory staff.

High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma. Experience in the construction or roofing industry, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Some aptitude for carpentry/roofing work demonstrated in prior work, school experience, or personal activities.

REPORTS TO: Roofing Crew Leader
An employee in this class inspects, repairs, and maintains roofs covered with asphalt, tiles, shingles, or metals. Assignments include the replacement and repair of downspouts and gutters. Routine work is performed independently, but renovations requiring structural changes are accompanied by detailed instructions. Problems are referred to a supervisor or outside source for evaluation and guidance. Some errors may be revealed upon inspection, while others may go undetected, resulting in considerable costs. The employee receives general supervision and may direct the work of laborers.
Terms of Employment: 12-month work year/At Will Employee/FLSA Non-Exempt
Starting Salary and/or Grade: Grade 60: ($34,790.76 - $48,686.88)
Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with the provisions of the Board and local polity on the evaluation of personnel.
