Job summary

Clayton is seeking a Truss Builder to construct roof trusses for our home-building facilities in Alabama. You will read blueprints and cut sheets, follow precise specifications, and work with a teammate to ensure accurate assembly.

You must safely lift heavy loads (over 50 lbs) and operate a hydraulic press, contributing to production goals while upholding Clayton's commitment to quality and safety.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and cut sheets.
• Physically capable of lifting over 50 pounds.
• Ability to operate a hydraulic press and maintain safe work practices.
• Work well with a partner to assemble trusses accurately.

Responsibilities

• Build roof trusses for Clayton Home Building Facilities.
• Read cut sheets and blueprints to meet approved standards.
• Ensure correct nail placement, overhang, and king post on each unit.
• Meet production requirements while maintaining quality.

Responsibilities Of Truss Builder

• Truss Builder’s primary responsibility is to build roof trusses for Clayton Home Building Facilities.
• Builder must be able to read a cut sheet and blueprint to build trusses that meet the approved standards regulated by the NTA.
• Check parts on assigned table/press to ensure proper set up of jig, cord, parts, and nails according to individual truss blueprint.
• Ensure proper nail placement, overhang and king post on every unit produced.
• Be able to meet production requirements in a timely manner while also ensuring the quality of each truss.
• Be able to repeatedly lift over 50 pounds.
• Be able to operate a hydraulic press.
• Be able to work well with a partner.
• Demonstrates honesty and integrity. Has a strong work ethic. Displays a great attitude and models teamwork.
• Reports directly to Truss Team Leader and Truss Department Area Coordinator.
