Lead Instructional Coach

The Rollins Center for Language & Literacy at the Atlanta Speech School The Lead Instructional Coach supports a team of Rollins coaches and leads coaching across the continuum. This role ensures the organization implements instructional and coaching practices with fidelity and consistency across sites and classrooms. The Lead Instructional Coach strengthens coaching quality by modeling effective coaching practices, providing targeted feedback, and building team capacity in language-rich instruction and adult learning.

The Lead Instructional Coach also leads team meetings and professional learning communities and leverages tools such as Cox Campus and video coaching to support ongoing learning and coherence across the team. The Lead Instructional Coach maintains a strong focus on sustainability by building partner capacity and supporting systems that promote continued implementation. Responsibilities of the Lead Instructional Coach – Instructional Coaching and Implementation:

  • Design and facilitate professional learning opportunities for both internal teams and external partners.
  • Lead team professional learning communities (PLCs) and reflective practice meetings.
  • Support onboarding by orienting new coaching team members to tools, expectations, and shared practices.
  • Ensure coaching across teams follows an intentional, reflective coaching cycle, including goal setting, implementation, reflection, and adjustment over time.
  • Support coaches in using a gradual release approach to build facilitators’ independence over time.
  • Ensure professional learning experiences include clear purpose, practice opportunities, and reflection for transfer.
  • Support the team in using multiple data sources to prioritize needs and determine coaching focus.
  • Facilitate collaborative problem-solving by supporting the coaching team in identifying barriers and planning responsive support virtually or in-person visits.
  • Cultivate a culture of coaching and modeling strong relationship-building and coaching practices with the internal Rollins team.
Communication And Collaboration
  • Maintain clear relationship-building systems that support coordination, follow-through, and shared understanding across the coaching team.
  • Coordinate meetings with facilitators to share updates and guide strategy implementation.
  • Strengthen cross-team alignment through consistent use of shared language, expectations, and coaching tools.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Coaching to guide implementation, elevate patterns and needs from the field, and align leadership decisions to partner goals.
  • Document and communicate progress to support transparency, continuity, and decision-making.
Professional Development Facilitation
  • Design and facilitate coaching professional development for facilitators and partners, ensuring best practices in adult learning theory are included.
  • Promote research and evidence-based practices for facilitators.
  • Analyze and compare existing coaching resources with best practices.
  • Develop redelivery content, engagement activities, and organize coaching materials for professional development.
Research/Professional Development
  • Stay current on the latest research and best practices related to structured literacy, early childhood education, curriculum and instruction, professional learning, and instructional coaching
  • Engage in ongoing professional development to strengthen coaching practice and content expertise
